In those days, not everyone had as much experience with digital marketing, and it was extremely common for us to hear, “we tried it and it didn’t work.”  In fact, it was the number-one objection reported by our business development team.  We decided that we needed to be willing to lead with education in order to overcome this sense many potential customers had.  Past failures were stopping people from trying again.
