As If You Needed A Better Reason for Setting Up Google Search Console
Google recently announced a new feature being added to Google Search Console that makes it even crazier not to be setting up Google Search Console if you haven’t already done it.
Search Console is a free product from Google that helps you register your website with the search engine. There are some immediate and useful benefits:
- You show up in more searches, almost immediately
- You can see your website the way Google sees it, and make SEO improvements
- You see exactly how much traffic Google is sending your way, and to which places in your website
New Feature Alert
And now Google has added something we think will prove quite useful for those businesses smart enough to take advantage of the new content suggestion feature.
Essentially, Google is going to suggest content ideas. It’s basically Google saying, “People are searching this topic, and we’d appreciate it if you’d write something about it.” And if history is any judge, if you build it, they will send people your way to read it.
If you do any content marketing whatsoever, you should be drooling over this new feature. Google is basically showing you a road map to more traffic!
Setting up Google Search Console was essential before. Now, it just keeps getting better and even more useful.
How To Know If Your Website is Set Up
Just go to the Google Search Console login page. Using your Google ID (or set one up), log in. If your website doesn’t show up on the list, then try to add it. If it’s already set up elsewhere, it’ll tell you. If not, Search Console will offer you the ability to add it.
The process is relatively simple, but there are some common pitfalls. For example, some websites still use the “www.” in the primary URL; others don’t. It’s important to know which is right for you.
